 This method is something I have considered, but alas the lack of a vintage camera makes things hard.  However, if you do find one you can get some really nice effects according to this entry on photojojo.
You can also get a really good macro effect as you are photographing through a lens, rather then straight at the subject.  An excellent innovative read :D
