http://photojojo.com/content/photojojo-original/through-the-viewfinder/

This method is something I have considered, but alas the lack of a vintage camera makes things hard. However, if you do find one you can get some really nice effects according to this entry on photojojo.
You can also get a really good macro effect as you are photographing through a lens, rather then straight at the subject. An excellent innovative read

“Stop us if this sounds familiar:You’re wandering around your favorite thrift store/ flea market/ crazy cat-lady neighbor’s attic and you find a great vintage camera.

You get all excited until you open the back and discover it only takes some bizarre outdated film that hasn’t been around since President Taft was voted People Magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive.” So you put it back, sigh, and daydream about that naughty naughty Taft.

But hark, dear reader: you can take digital pictures using that incredibly cool old camera. Combine your digital camera with your kitschy cam, and you’ll end up with some serious vintage-style awesome…”

No no! Don’t go, its not a get rich quick scheme!!

Its a ‘get rich slowly’ tactic and the author seems to think that it really worked. I have not tried it, and if you have enough money to save each month that is recommended, then it should work. However cast a careful eye over it.

“In 2003, my girlfriend (now wife) and I graduated from university with nearly $50,000 in debt. This debt was a combination of my wife’s $30,000 in student loans and her $20,000 new car loan. Since I learned fundamental saving habits at a very young age, I managed to graduate university debt-free with $10,000 in savings. Combined, however, we were $40,000 in the red (not including a new mortgage).

Over the past five years, our financial picture has changed drastically. Not only have we dug ourselves out of the hole, but we’ve grown our combined net worth to over $285,000.

How did we do it? We didn’t strike it rich in real estate, we didn’t luck into some crazy stock tip, and we don’t even have extremely high paying jobs (we started at $85,000 gross combined).

So we are meant to be driving around in 250 mph cars? Domed cities? This is partially science fiction, but there are things that do ring true. Flat screen computers that fit inside a briefcase, cars that drive themselves (not on open market yet). Written by James R. Berry, a low key sci fi writer, so expect it to be dramatic.

I am of two minds about this one. Open Access is normally a beacon for good value (anything is good value as it is free), but does it mean quality? There are many non-English journals in this collection, and of course only subject specialists can make deduce the quality of a journal article or the facts and sources that each author uses, but on the front it looks like a good alternative to those expensive tome’s that charge thousands per issue!

http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2008/mar/31/4

Geeks are officially in vogue according to Stephen Armstrong dans le Guardian. First post on my new blog (well old because I have had the concept and the name for about two years, but new as I am writing in it this time) and I have to say a good word for the Geek.
Geeks are sexy, they are ‘in’.

They are sexy, because most of the geeks are loaded. Why? Because they have brains and are normally talented at what they have a passion for. Those geeks who have a passion for something but clearly lack any talent whatsoever could be referred to as ‘Napoleons’, after Napoleon Dynamite who was a geek but clearly had very little talent for anything apart from dancing. Regardless, I digress.

Geekdom is hot in the land of TV, but in real life?
